Reruns have become our history…

I was listening to the radio on my way into work, and had music on, which is rare for me in the mornings, since I listen to a ‘morning show’ – but I had a great mix cd that I made on and in every song there were awesome lyrics, ones that just caught me, struck me and made me wish that I could weave words in the same way that people draw or put together notes. Here’s some of the lyric excerpts that are some faves. If you’re bored, you can try to identify the songs & artists (No web searching, CHEATER!)

‘and the words of the prophets are written on the subway walls, and tenement halls’

‘Did you laugh at all when the people walked right by and said aloud, “You gutter punks are all the same.”‘

‘If you want to kiss the sky, better learn how to kneel (on your knees, boy!)’

‘it’s the terror of knowing what this world is about’

‘If I die before I learn to speak, can money pay for all the days I lived awake but half asleep’

‘I stopped by the bar at 3 am To seek solace in a bottle, or possibly a friend’

‘Underneath the chilly grey november sky, We can make believe.. that kennedy is still alive’

Peace out y’all…

Gaming

So I finally finished Prince Of Persia this weekend, and by looking at the media card, it took me ~38 hours. I can think of spending weeks and weeks of playing RPG’s on my C-64 when I was in high school.. Ultima 3, Ultima 4, Bards Tale 3. I can think of literally hundreds of hours that I spent on computer gaming. I started to play FF:X last night but I don’t know how long it’s going to take me to get into it. I also have a half dozen other games that I haven’t even started yet.. Resident evil 2 &3, Syphon Filter.. There’s not enough hours in the day.

LIFE AFTER DEATH

HE’S ALIVE! HE’S FREAKING ALIVE! MY WIFE JUST CALLED TO SAY THAT SOMEONE FOUND OUR DOG! THE ONE AT THE POUND MUST HAVE BEEN A LOOKALIKE OR SOMETHING BUT MAC IS OK! I’m sitting at my desk sobbing like a little girl.

Death…

Yesterday was one of the most heart wrenching days I’ve had in forever. I went to the Humane Society to look through the kennels, hoping that Mac had turned up. instead I found an ‘Unidentified Shepherd Mix’ in the DOA book that matched him. Same colors, weight, type, age, collar. Then to have to go home and tell my wife and daughter that our beloved pet was dead. My wife and I cried and Caitlin got very upset. She doesn’t really understand, at 2 years old she only knows that Mac isn’t there to play anymore. This morning she saw a picture of him and kept asking where he is. I think of all the good times we’ve had in the short time we’ve had him (we got him at 7 weeks old, and he’s only 18 months old) :( Going to the dog park, building him a fence and doghouse, roughousing in the backyard, watching Caitlin chase him around :(. And to PG&E: Fuck you for leaving the gate open. You killed our dog, a beloved member of our family.
