So you had to kill in your first week?

So I call my sister Trish (as seen below) and ask her for the down-low on her first week as a cop. Now, bear in mind that she is stationed at a small detachment, 10 people, in a series of small towns in the Alberta mountains. She’s had traffic stops and a B&E. Hasn’t had to use her handcuffs yet, but has had occasion to shoot and kill, all in her first week. Admittedly, she had to shoot and kill a deer that had been struck by a car, but none the less, an interesting first week. Apparently having to put down injured animals happens with a reasonable frequency, and Trish did well by only needing a single shot (as opposed to a story related by another member, whose first time required SEVEN shots, and a third, who, after watching the second make her attempt, took the riot shotgun out for the task, thinking the service pistols inadequate for the job.) Ahh life, she is interesting, no?

The rain on my car is a baptism.

Last night I was driving home and when I got home I started looking for the phone b/c I wanted to call my sister. My wife says to me “Why do you need to talk to her right now? What do you have to tell her? I looked at her and said:

“The rain on my car is a baptism, this is the new me: Power Lloyd. My assault on the world begins now.”

Sometimes there’s someone that gets it. Usually my wife does, but not this time.

She looked back and said: “Call your geeky sister.”

Stuff.. and Stuff

Well I have a bit of a case of the mondays even though it’s tuesday. (checks date N time) Um.. or thursday. I finally got to a blog meetup (and only six months late this time) and it was a good time even though I got there early and missed the first 2 hours cause I was coding in a corner. Still, there is geeky conversation on par with any you could find, anywhere. Much talk was of independant films, assasins, e-stalking, old, old, old computers and drinking. I daresay that a good time was mostly had by all.

On another geeky note, my X-men run is filling out quite nicely, having completed both the ‘dark phoenix’ and ‘ days of future past’ arcs in my colleciton. As soon as I convince my brother in law to give me all his X-men, I’ll have most of 100-300 finished.

Taxes are over. Thank God.

I keep meaning to write more, but instead I’ve been spending more time with my family, and working outside the house, getting things picked up and springly, and having fun with people, people, and things.

Ah well.. C’est la vie! And a good vie it is!

Pain

I was thinking of this some time ago, but forgot to write about it – I wondered if I was all alone in this, but I can’t be – when I sneeze, it hurts. It’s like my whole body contracts, every muscle in my body spasms, and it takes me a few minutes to recover. Weird eh? Even when I’m hit in hockey, full on body check I don’t hurt this bad. Very strange.
