Musical Interludes

I went down to streetlight music last night to look for some good used CD’s.. damn that place is bad for me.. I did however manage to pick up some good stuff: U2, REM, Led Zeppelin, Henry Rollins (spoken word). And I thought for a little interest I’d post some of my favorite song lyrics, out of context, to see if you can guess them:

Re-Do and question

I’m going to take the layout I did for another blog and move it to this one since I’m not using the other one. More updates soonish.

I have been listening to a certain band a lot and I was kind of struck by something.. I’m going to shoot out this question to anyone who wants to participate.

What musical artist (band, singer, rapper, instrumentalist, etc.) Do you feel most represents the essense of being Canadian? What about American? Please include your nationality and if you want to, any reasons or thoughts about this.

Sadness

I’ve found myself more on the edge, emotionally than I have ever been in my life. I’ll be listening to a song, or reading something and be suddenly struck by the feelings of the passage or lyrics, and occasionally well up, even if it’s something I’ve heard before. I was listening to Wheat Kings in the car and started thinking about it’s meaning and bam.

I also bought a little journal at B&N (That’s like an analog blog, or so I’ve heard) and I think I’m going to try to fill it with little nuggets of wisdom that I’ve learned and memories I have, and someday I’ll pass it on to my daughter & son.

lyrical interlude

Perspective is shaken
by ignorant minds
the path we have chosen
leaves us deaf dumb and blind

You can call me a doubting Thomas
because I see the world in a whole new light
you can pass the blame and break the promise
but who gave you the right

You need not point your finger
at the falsely accused
when all of the evidence
points clearly at you

You can call me a doubting Thomas
because I see the world in a whole new light
you can pass the blame and break the promise
but what gives you the right

I feel my sadness creeping
from the corner of my eye
it pains me just to see
the way that you live your life

You can call me a doubting Thomas
because I see the world in a whole new light
you can pass the blame and break the promise
but I’ll keep the faith tonight
