DAMN UPS

So, my wife orders some nice things for me from Amazon.com, and gets them shipped out via UPS. UPS arrives today (while I’m at work) and instead of trying to re-deliver them at another time, they put them in my side yard which is bad because:

1) It is during a rainstorm, and there is no overhanging.
2) My dog is in the side yard.

Needless to say, when I get home to find my whole yard covered in plastic, wet cardboard shreds. And I have to hunt (in the rain and dark!!!) to find the remnants of the new Playstation 2, power and audio/video cables, and the parts of the dualshock controllers that haven’t been chewed. I am not happy.

I search amazon’s website for 20 minutes before a google search reveals their customer service phone # (No way am I going to wait for email when I’m this mad). When I explain that my (our) christmas gift is ruined due to UPS’ (and by proxy Amazon’s) negligence, the customer service person immediately puts through an order for overnight shipping for replacement products, and sends me pre-paid shipping labels for returning what is left.

My wife is angrily giving UPS the what-for from her vacation, and after we get back to each other on the phone, we have a little laugh about it. I’m still annoyed, but in the grand scheme of things, No harm done eh?

I Miss My Mac

I miss my mac laptop. A Lot. My wife & daughter went to visit our families over thanksgiving since I knew I’d be working lots of extra hours, and they took the laptop for lots of reasons. I’m glad I’m getting her a G4 iBook for christmas (Shh, don’t tell!) I didn’t think I’d miss it, but Linux doesn’t have good photo-editing software (Gimpheads: Save it. Photoshop rules.) and I’ll be damned if I’m going to use Windows again. Oh Macintosh, why hath thou forsaken me?

Updating Blog, etc

I’m trying to catch up with my blog backlog, making categories and re-categorizing after i imported into MT. I’ve also got a new blog that I’m working on and a re-do to this one. Dang. Plus I’m working today (day after THanksgiving) since our slavedrivertaskmasterdirector is no doubt feeling the pressure from on high to get our product done.

Jumble of emotions

I just got a call, my dad is out of surgery, and although it went well, he has another tumor in his chest, so that means chemo, and whatever other therapy is needed. I don’t know how I feel yet, I’m quivering internally, and trying hard to stem the tide that is pressuring to break out.
