Stuff.. and Stuff

Well I have a bit of a case of the mondays even though it’s tuesday. (checks date N time) Um.. or thursday. I finally got to a blog meetup (and only six months late this time) and it was a good time even though I got there early and missed the first 2 hours cause I was coding in a corner. Still, there is geeky conversation on par with any you could find, anywhere. Much talk was of independant films, assasins, e-stalking, old, old, old computers and drinking. I daresay that a good time was mostly had by all.

On another geeky note, my X-men run is filling out quite nicely, having completed both the ‘dark phoenix’ and ‘ days of future past’ arcs in my colleciton. As soon as I convince my brother in law to give me all his X-men, I’ll have most of 100-300 finished.

Taxes are over. Thank God.

I keep meaning to write more, but instead I’ve been spending more time with my family, and working outside the house, getting things picked up and springly, and having fun with people, people, and things.

Ah well.. C’est la vie! And a good vie it is!

Pain

I was thinking of this some time ago, but forgot to write about it – I wondered if I was all alone in this, but I can’t be – when I sneeze, it hurts. It’s like my whole body contracts, every muscle in my body spasms, and it takes me a few minutes to recover. Weird eh? Even when I’m hit in hockey, full on body check I don’t hurt this bad. Very strange.

Strange Dream

So last week I applied for a couple jobs – not specifically because I want to leave my current job but because they were companies that I really really want to try my hand at working for: Apple and Google. Last night I had a very strange dream. I was in a cafeteria like place with Larry Page, Jonathon Schwartz and Steve Jobs, they were all working on paperwork type stuff at different tables, and my ex-director was there too. I was walking around, trying to get up the nerve to approach them and ask for a job. Schwartz was playing with some juggling balls and I fooled around with him a bit, showing off my mad juggling skills (of which I have none in RL), and when I was done, he smiled and went back to his paperwork. I turned around and Page was looking at me, and said “On monday, email me your resume”. Then he looked at another person that had come in behind me, obstensibly for the same thing (with resumes, looking for work) and said nothing to that person, and gave him the finger. I was elated. On my way out of that dream-cafeteria-setting, my ex-director asked me a question about incremental linkers and command switches. Not too sure about that part though. A good omen, no?

So I’m published…

I don’t remember if I actually put this in here, and I’m feeling really lazy and blah, so I’m gonna do it again. I was a contributor to a technical book entitled Configuring NetScreen Firewalls . I did technical editing, wrote some of the F.A.Q.’s and the Foreword for the book. It’s kind of exciting, even though I had a small part in it. Regardless, w00t, go me!
