meat! fire!

man, bbq’in is just it. it defines summer for me. i love it. i could bbq every night of the week, and want more on saturday. it’s just as good as it gets. this weekend was like the official start of summery weather, as far as i consider it. like, last weekend it was hot, and i wore shorts, but this weekend i got out my sandals and started work on my callous. (my sandals don’t fit quite right on the big toe, so i have to build up a little callous every year!) and i did some work in the yard. built a shelf to hold the a/c in my garage. played with the dog. played with the bean. friends came over and chilled out in the backyard. much enjoyment and relaxing was had by all. the bean had a chest cold, and asthma, and had to go to the er late saturday night, but who needs sleep anyways? “ahhhh, lazy saturday mornings… ” “homer, it’s *wednesday*” “doh!!”

drive into the river bob

w00p! after months of relentlessly hounding my wife, she has caved, and in order to preserve her sanity she has said to me “damn it, just get that stupid laptop! as long as i don’t have to hear about the damn thing ever again!!!” so i’m getting a powerbook!!! *dances in joy*

dentist visit

yeah, after many years (at least 5, more like 8) i went to the dentist. i have a little cavity in my front tooth that i can see, so i figured i’d better have it checked out. i also have a couple more in my back molars, so i gotta go back in a couple weeks to have em all filled. no major damage, no root canals, surgery or gingivitis :). so my teeth are all polished and tartar free, and that feels kinda good. i deserve some teeth killing sugar for that!

hell on earth

i hate driving, and drivers, and people in general in the bay area.. yesterday i get up and i can’t even get to the freeway without having to roll up my windows and put the air on recycle. the stench of smog, and heat, and diesel all washed through my car, making me nauseous. traffic is not a necessary evil, it is an imposed evil. we impose it on ourselves. i’m seriously going to take the light rail tomorrow and see what it’s like. jwz did a post about san jose *takes break in other window* well.. i just went to jwz’s site trying to find it, but instead i spent 45 minutes going from tangent to tangent through his gruntles. *more surfing* ok, it’s been 3 hours now. i’m finishing this since i’ve lost my train of thought anyways.

if you build it….

i’m a homeowner for the first time.. i bought a tiny (~1000 sq feet) house in june of last year, and it has been a *lot* of work.. not that it was in bad shape when i got it, but there’s been a constant stream of improvements.. the baby’s room. the living room. the garage. the backyard. ahhh the backyard.. this weekend i finished building a fence to mark off an area for our dog. it’s pretty cool.. here’s a picture and another and a picture of the dog with his friends (see if you can guess which dog is mine ;) so i think that when i retire (hopefully soon, realistically not) i want a condo or at least a handyman/gardner so that i don’t have to do much.. i’m chronically lazy (a slacker if you will) and the idea of working a lot doesn’t really appeal to it. i don’t even have the gall to call myself ‘efficient’.. anyways, enough today.
