Just the Facts, Ma’am

I just got an interesting call from my wife… We’ve been teaching Caitlin how to call 911 in an emergency, and she took it to heart, apparently.. and called this morning. For no apparent reason.. so a few minutes later, the police show up at the door. After figuring out what happened, they had a talk with Caitlin and now she (hopefully) knows not to call unless someone is hurt, or something bad is happening. Or she’s bored.

Athletic Ability

So I’m on the train this morning and I’m reading an article about Lance Armstrong. The author of the article has a question (rhetorical, I’m assuming) about whether or not he is the greatest athlete ever. Now, putting aside the apples vs oranges debate, for the time being, I think that someone could be considered a great athlete by comparing himself(I’m going to use the male pronoun exclusively here, for brevity) against the other people in his sport.

So I started to do some research.

Champions!

We are the champions, My Friends…

Our hockey team, the Netscreeners won the championship for our league, and damn if everyone didn’t play really really well! This is our first championship, and I really feel we earned it.

I’ve got 9.2 work days left until my departure here, and I can’t wait.

Sin City and Hockey

So I have two things that have happened this week that I feel like I should write about –

1) Sin City. Wow. I’ve been a fan of Frank Miller for a while, he did some amazing stuff on Batman and Daredevil both, and I’ve read ‘The Hard Goodbye’ (the formerly untitled first Sin City story arc). So I was a little stoked to see the movie coming out, but due to varying stuff in life I didn’t get a chance to see it till this wednesday. I went with my friend Aaron and I gotta say, I loved it. It blew me away. The black and white, stark grittiness, and the way that it blew off the screen just like an explosion. I was pretty much amazed the whole time. Now, there are some caveats: It’s really violent, and visceral, and even though much of it is stylized or comic-y, it’s still there. So don’t take your kids. But if you have any interest in this style… (Someone described it as pulp fiction meets Humphrey Bogart), then see it.

2) Hockey – No, not the NHL, my beer league! We’re in the finals! As 5th seed, we beat the 4th seed and the 1st seed, and we play sunday against the #7 team for overall champion! I’m so excited.
